Events and Fun

I wanted to take a few minutes to mention a couple of upcoming events that I will be working this summer, both of which are at Bloom Brew!

The first event coming up is on May 4th (yes, ‘Star Wars’ Day, but not SW themed) and that is the Yough River Monster. If you aren’t familiar with the Youghness Monster, it is a 25 mile river race that begins in Connellsville, PA and ends 25 miles down river at, you guessed it, Bloom Brew. This event benefits the West Newton Volunteer Fire Company which Bloom Brew is located below. Those that both join the race will receive a drink ticket and food ticket with their bib. There will be medics on standby and people following along the bike trail for assistance as needed. Helmets are not required, PFDs are, (but why not wear a helmet anyway just in case?) Let’s set a great example of safety for the people (both children and adults!) that will be cheering you on along the way! Last year over $2,000 was raised for the firemen, let’s blow that out of the water, pun intended, this year! We will have extra bartenders on hand that day, including the head brewer, Dan, to answer questions and serve you.

The second event, on July 28th (1pm-4pm,) is a festival celebrating the great craft beer, mead, wine, and whiskey in Westmoreland County. This will have 7 breweries, a winery, meadery, and distillery passing out pours of their great liquid creations, as well as food trucks, local vendors, and a blacksmith demonstration from a winner of the ‘Forged in Fire’ TV show! This is a 21+ event, but there will also be a family friendly area available that day.

As always, I am at Bloom Brew bartending most Saturdays, my husband is there most Wednesdays, and as always you can find me around town hitting up local breweries in my off time. Keep track of my shenanigans on social media and upcoming vacations (based around beer, obviously) on the blog.
